⚠️ Anti-trauma plate: watch out for soldiers

In the military, it is common to hear some operators refer to their NIJ 3A 360 as "anti-trauma" protection . This is a critical error.

In reality, military equipment is often composed of ICW ( In Conjunction With ) ballistic plates , which absolutely must be used with NIJ 3A soft protection underneath.

An anti-trauma plate does not offer any ballistic protection and is in no way a substitute for a 3A soft insert.

👉 If you are in the military, using your own under-equipment vest, and your plates are not stand-alone, you absolutely must equip yourself with NIJ 3A soft protection to guarantee your safety.

What is an anti-trauma plate?

A trauma plate is an add-on insert used with bulletproof vest to reduce the physical impact of a projectile on the body, even when the bullet is stopped by the primary ballistic protection.

Indeed, during a shot, the energy of the shock can cause internal injuries (such as contusions, fractures or organic lesions), without penetrating the armor. The anti-trauma plate, generally flexible or semi-rigid, absorbs and disperses this energy, thus limiting the effects of the shock wave on the wearer .

It is particularly recommended in high-risk environments or for professionals wanting a higher level of protection.
