The Benefits of NIJ IV

NIJ Level IV represents the pinnacle of personal ballistic protection according to the American standard NIJ 0101.06. It is currently the only level officially designed to stop armor-piercing ammunition such as the formidable 7.62x63mm AP M2 (.30-06 Armor Piercing), a military-grade steel-core projectile capable of penetrating most conventional body armor.

This level of protection is widely used by military personnel in external operations, special units, or operators intervening in urban warfare zones or in contexts where the use of penetrating war weapons is proven.
It is also relevant for VIP close security professionals, who may be exposed to threats such as sniper rifles, military carbine or modified shotguns.

Compatibility and Maintenance

• Ballistic packs: Clean the envelopes with a damp sponge or cloth.

NIJ (National Institute of Justice)
Norme américaine la plus répandue pour certifier les protections balistiques. Définit des niveaux (II, IIIA, III, IV) selon les calibres et munitions testés.

ICW (In Conjunction With)
Plaque conçue pour être utilisée avec une protection souple (NIJ 3A) afin d’atteindre son niveau de protection annoncé.

Stand Alone (SA)
Plaque autonome qui n’a pas besoin d’insert souple derrière. Plus épaisse et plus lourde qu’une ICW, mais plus pratique.

SAPI (Small Arms Protective Insert)
Format standard OTAN des plaques balistiques (≈ 25 × 30 cm). Sert de référence pour la compatibilité des porte-plaques.

Swimmer-Cut / Shooter-Cut
Découpes spécifiques des plaques pour améliorer la mobilité des bras et des épaules (tir, natation, combat rapproché).

Backface deformation (BFD) / Trauma
Déformation arrière d’une plaque lors d’un impact, mesurée en mm. Plus elle est faible, moins le porteur subit de choc contondant.

Multi-hit / Multi-impact
Capacité d’une plaque à encaisser plusieurs tirs rapprochés sans perte de performance.

UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene)
Fibre balistique synthétique ultra-légère (ex. Dyneema®). Très résistante et utilisée pour les plaques rigides ou souples.

Alumine
Céramique couramment utilisée dans les plaques pour briser et ralentir les projectiles. Moins coûteuse mais plus lourde que le carbure de bore.

Carbure de bore
Céramique haut de gamme, plus légère et plus résistante, utilisée pour les plaques haut niveau (NIJ IV).

MSC (Mild Steel Core)
Munition avec noyau en acier doux, typique du 7.62×39 AK-47.

NIJ 3++ SS109

Nos plaques NIJ 3++ arrêtent :

• 5.56×45 SS109 / M855 — balle à noyau partiellement en acier, courante sur plateformes AR-15/M4.
  
• 5.56×45 M855A1 — variante plus énergétique du M855, noyau renforcé.
  
• 7.62×39 (MSC) — cartouche AK-47 standard, souvent à noyau acier doux.
  
• 7.62×51 M80 OTAN — balle standard de fusil NATO à puissance élevée.

Nos plaques API BZ arrêtent :

• 5.56 perforantes (API BZ) — balles conçues pour percer les blindages légers grâce à un noyau dur.
  
• 7.62 perforantes (API BZ) — versions perforantes destinées à traverser des protections standards.
  

Profil destiné aux projectiles à noyau dur (armor-piercing) ; protection axée sur la neutralisation des munitions perforantes.
